College Football Recruiting: 6 Visits That Could Seal the Deal for Top Recruits
When you run a football program and you get the chance to host a recruit right before NSD, it's a special visit, as you're more than likely his final trip before he decides where to sign. This is gut-check time for you as a recruiter, as you have to pull out all the stops to make the last impression on him.
I'm going to give you six prospects taking trips to schools with a serious shot to land them.
These are "seal-the-deal" type of visits, where schools want a recruit to walk in uncommitted and walk out locked in.
6. Thomas Johnson, WR: Cal
1 of 6Johnson was originally committed to Texas, but he pulled a recent stunner and left the Longhorns' class.
Now he has Cal, Oregon and TCU on his mind and will take a trip to Berkeley this weekend.
If all goes well, I would not be shocked to see Johnson end up a Bear.
5. Dalton Santos, LB: Texas
2 of 6Santos has begun looking around due to the staff turnover at Tennessee, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
He's a LB who is being recruited by Arkansas and Ohio State as well.
However, in-state Texas has made an offer, and it may be too much for Santos to refuse.
He's scheduled to take a trip to Austin this weekend, and I'm not so sure he leaves Austin still committed to Tennessee.
4. Jordan Payton, WR: Washington
3 of 6Recently committed to Cal, Payton is back from a trip to Seattle to visit Washington.
With Tosh Lupoi now at U-Dub, Payton has the Huskies thick on his mind.
A former USC pledge who's now committed to Cal and still looking around, I think Payton's wavering and shaky at best in his commitment.
Look for him to sign with Washington.
3. Tracy Howard, CB: Miami
4 of 6It's all but certain that Howard will not leave the sate of Florida for college.
He's already visited Florida last week and Florida State in November.
This weekend, Al Golden and Miami Hurricanes get their shot and will pull out all the stops to land the elite CB prospect.
This race will definitely come down to which Sunshine State school Howard feels is best for him.
2. Nelson Agholor, ATH: USC
5 of 6USC will get a chance to host him this weekend, as Greg Biggins of ESPN RISE suggests he's been a USC favorite for awhile.
This is a huge trip for the Trojans, as Lane Kiffin and Co. will try to seal the deal for the uber-athletic Agholor.
1. Dorial Green-Beckham, WR: Missouri
6 of 6If you're a Missouri fan, this is the scenario you wanted, and you got it.
The Tigers are hosting the nation's top player in the not-too-distant future and will do everything they can to seal the deal.
Gary Pinkel has already visited DGB via helicopter and is doing all he can to convince the 6'6", 220-pounder to stay home.
Arkansas is the favorite right now in my opinion, but Mizzou will definitely do it big when DGB comes to campus, so we can only wait until he announces on signing day.
