Farmers Insurance Open 2012: Full Preview, Live Stream, Start Time & Schedule
The PGA Tour returns to Torrey Pines this week, as Bubba Watson will be defending his title at the Farmers Insurance Open.
The drama of 2011 will be hard to top. Watson was done with a two-shot lead over Phil Mickelson, who was playing the par-five 18th hole. Mickelson was forced to lay up, but had his caddie tend the flag for a pitch shot from the middle of the fairway.
The first two rounds of this tournament are played on two different courses. After that, the players who make the cut will play the final two rounds on the South course, which hosted the 2008 U.S. Open won by Tiger Woods.
Where: Torrey Pines Golf Course. La Jolla, California

What They're Saying
Rob Bolton of PGATour.com feels that the one thing you can bank on is that the winner here will be a person who's at least played in the tournament before.
"Although Torrey Pines South is the longest course on the PGA TOUR at 7,698 yards, distance off the tee is but a secondary component to success there. Several factors line up above it on the list of priorities.
At the top might be experience. Relatively small greens (5,800 square feet) and temperamental Poa annua surfaces add to the learning curve but one fact jumps off the page. The last time a first-time participant emerged victorious at this event, Dwight D. Eisenhower was in the White House.
In 1957, 28-year-old Arnold Palmer defeated Al Balding by one stroke for his seventh of 62 TOUR victories. Only the U.S. Open boasts a longer drought among tournament rookies (Francis Ouimet, 1913).
"
Golfer to Watch
Dustin Johnson. He had to withdraw from the Humana Challenge last week with an injury. A good early season will set the tone for a strong season.
Remember that the South Course has hosted the U.S. Open before, so Johnson winning at another major venue (he's won at Pebble Beach) would be a great sign that he can break through.

Prediction: Rickie Fowler
He is ready to win, and this is a good place to make it happen. In Fowler's two career starts here, he has a tie for fifth and a tie for 20th, which is a respectable showing.
The all-around game is there for Fowler to finally break through and win on the PGA Tour. I like it to happen here.
