USC Football Recruiting: Trojans' Last Big Visit Weekend Is at Hand
The Trojans, like many other college football programs, will be hosting its last big visit weekend before National Signing Day on February 1.
While the list of prep stars visiting certainly won't be long, there is a recruit among them whom the Trojans have their eye on.
In fact, Florida safety/athlete Nelson Agholor is high on USC's wish list and the best news for Trojan fans is that the feeling is reciprocated.
Rated a 4-star athlete by Scout.com, the 6'1", 175-pound Agholor will have to put some weight on at the next level, but he has the frame to do so and his versatility gives his coaches plenty of options.
To be certain, Agholor needs to be on the field in a variety of capacities.
Extraordinarily explosive, Agholor, who hails from Tampa, FL., has a ton of offers in hand from most of the high-profile schools across the nation.
As of this writing, most recruiting pundits have the Trojans neck and neck with Florida for the services of Agholor, but he is playing his final decision pretty close to the vest.
The other high-profile visitors to USC this weekend are intriguing as well, but their excursion west feels more like a vacation than a serious inquiry to play for the cardinal and gold.
Like Agholor, Tyriq McCord is a big-time recruit from Florida who is rated a 4-star prospect by ESPN.com.
Unlike Agholor however, the 6'3", 220-pound defensive end has already given his verbal pledge to Miami.
It appears that it would take a herculean effort from the staff to flip McCord and there has been little chatter of that happening.
Also visiting is big Justin Shanks, a 6'3", 310-pound defensive tackle from Alabama who has been committed to Florida State for the last six months.
Though the Trojans would dearly love to get Shanks, especially after losing out on Ellis McCarthy, there isn't much chance of that happening.
While McCord, Shanks and Agholor are the only three listed visitors, that doesn't mean they won't be joined by a "mystery" prepster, a la Cyler Miles, a 6'4", 220-pound 4-star quarterback who snuck in through the back door last weekend.
As for the Trojans chances for signing Nelson Agholor?
Pretty damned good.
And McCord and Shanks?
Not so much.
We'll know for sure on February 1.
