WWE News: Big Update on Health of Rey Mysterio, Returning at WrestleMania 28?

Rey Mysterio is just one of many WWE superstars who were bitten by the injury bug in 2011. 

Way back in August, the former WWE and world heavyweight champion suffered yet another knee injury that required surgery and has been out of action ever since. 

Mysterio himself recently released a video expressing his desire to return in time for WrestleMania 28, and apparently, that is the goal WWE officials have in mind as well. 

From PWInsider.com (via WrestleNewz.com):

While WWE is hoping that Rey Mysterio will be back in time for WrestleMania 28, the talk is that they will keep him off RAW and SmackDown until after the big pay-per-view. 

"

After reading this report on a number of different wrestling news sites, it appears that there seems to be some confusion about what’s in store for Mysterio: Some are reporting that he won’t return to the WWE at all until after WrestleMania, while others are reporting the he just won’t appear on Raw or SmackDown until the pay-per-view. 

Regardless of what the exact plan is, though, it appears that the goal on everyone’s mind is to have Mysterio back in time for WrestleMania 28. 

Mine too. 

While I’ve never been the biggest Mysterio fan, I can’t deny the fact that he has a place in the WWE and is one of the company’s most beloved baby faces. Plus, the dude can straight-up go in the ring. 

The WWE should not rush Mysterio’s return because one more knee injury could likely end his career. However, if he’s healthy enough to return in time for WrestleMania 28, then there’s no reason to keep him off the show. 

Bring him back to TV in March and then build up his feud for a few weeks. Heck, they could even throw him in the Money in the Bank match. 

Just don’t keep someone who’s a big draw like Mysterio off of WrestleMania unless you have to.
