Royal Rumble 2012: Chris Jericho Will Cost CM Punk WWE Title

When CM Punk squares off with Dolph Ziggler for the WWE Title at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view, John Laurinaitis won’t be the only thing the champion should be worrying about.

Chris Jericho will cost Punk the match and his WWE title.

With talk that Punk was Jericho’s first feud since coming back, the natural progression towards WrestleMania would have both stars butting heads starting at the Royal Rumble. While the WWE can do it subtlety over the next month, an obvious heel move is what the crowd wants.

There is no clearer heel move in the world than Jericho coming to the ring during the match between Punk and Ziggler and beating down on the WWE champion. After watching Ziggler pin the incapacitated Punk and steal his title, Y2J needs to put Punk in the Walls of Jericho and make sure the message is clear.

The end is near for the world that CM Punk is the best in. The real best in the world comes home to take back his crown.

With Johnny Ace fearful of his job, the match will actually be called down the middle—as much as human possible—by a dud like the EVP of Talent Relations.

That means no screw-job from Laurinaitis.

As great as it would be just to see Ziggler and Punk go at it for 20 minutes in what would be the best match of the night, the WWE has too many plans surrounding these two stars to let it end with a clean win for anyone.

Many fans think that Jericho will win the Royal Rumble, but I don’t believe that Vince McMahon would bestow that honor on someone who is coming back for a temporary visit. I still believe that Randy Orton will win in his hometown of St. Louis.

With Orton the face of SmackDown, his challenge of the World Heavyweight title will be the most likely occurrence. That would leave Dolph Ziggler with the WWE title and the duo of Punk and Jericho feuding.

I smell a three-way feud for the WWE title that could elevate both Punk and Ziggler to all-time heights in WWE. Jericho is the man to get over these two stars even more, but WWE has to pull the trigger.

Do the right thing Vinny Mac, give the fans what they want.
