Alabama Football Recruiting: Crimson Tide Continue to Roll with TJ Yeldon

The rich get richer and a team that attacks from the ground up has received a great gift in future collegiate star TJ Yeldon. 

Josh Bean writes on the emerging case of Yeldon, a star prospect who recently switched his commitment from Auburn to Alabama. His reason may be simple, but it speaks volumes for the hunger and expectations that the soft-spoken running back has for himself. 

Per Bean's report, Yeldon issued a few short words on his enigmatic decision to switch from one big-time program to another, ensuring he receives a great deal of Auburn hate in the process.

The past two or three years, they've had running backs qualify for the Heisman Trophy. I mean, Auburn hasn't. I just had to go to the place that was best for me. I felt great at Alabama. I love it up there. I've enrolled in classes. It's pretty fun.

"

Yeldon had to deal with a great deal of hate as he chooses one bitter rival over another. That is just something that he will have to deal with as the Auburn snub will no doubt mark his career with the Crimson Tide. 

As Bean points out, it is all about the here and now for Alabama and their prized new recruit. This a program that placed a Heisman trophy in Mark Ingram's hands and very nearly did the same for NFL-bound Trent Richardson. 

Thanks to the present being far more valuable to Yeldon than a wider scope of the programs and their legacies, Alabama is going to luck out on yet another potential star running back. 

Yeldon just locked up the title of Mr. Football as the state's greatest high school player. He is the first running back to receive the honor since Carnell Williams in 2000. 

It is a fully warranted accolade after a season in which Yeldon rushed for 2,196 yards and scored 32 touchdowns. 

Nick Saban will no doubt get the most out of the youthful star. Soon, and offense that values the running back will feature the third in recent Heisman hopefuls. 

Yeldon is not resting on his Mr. Football laurels. That is an nice accomplishment, but he wants the coveted Heisman, and that is why Alabama will thank their lucky stars one day that he switched loyalties at the last second.
