Novak Djokovic: Why The Djoker is Easily Favorite to Win Aussie Open 2012

Dan RenfroJun 7, 2018

Novak Djokovic is clearly the favorite to win the 2012 Australian Open.

The Djoker has looked incredibly sharp and is clearly the world's No. 1 player and he plays well in Australia.

Coming into the tournament, Djokovic was a popular pick to win it. Through four rounds, he hasn't caused anyone to question that pick.

He cruised through the first three matches, and Djoker hadn't even come close to dropping a set. Granted, he hasn't faced the stiffest competition, but taking care of business is easier said than done.

Djokovic has been sure to get it done.

In the fourth round, he made quick work of Lleyton Hewitt, even though he dropped his first set. Despite the brief setback, Djoker has been playing as well as he can.

When he plays his best, Djokovic is easily the best player in the world.

After such a great 2011, big things are expected from Djokovic. No one was on his level last year, and no one has quite been on his level yet this year.

So, there shouldn't be anyone else in the conversation to be the "favorite" to win the tournament. When the best player in the world is playing like it, just get out of his way.

Finally, Djokovic is a great player in the Australian Open.

Last year, Djoker only lost one set in the entire tournament. It was in the second round after a tiebreaker.

He also won the 2008 Australian Open, while losing only one set.

In 2010, he only lost one set before his 5-set defeat in the quarterfinals, where he complained of stomach pains. In 2009, he was forced to retire from the heat, also in the quarterfinals.

When at his best, Djokovic can win the Australian Open, for he has proven it in the past. He seems healthy this year, so watch out.

Djokovic has looked good so far. Again, he is the best player in the world right now and he's very good at the Aussie Open.

With all that going for him, it is easy to say that Djokovic is the favorite to win the first Grand Slam of the year.
