NASCAR Fans Get Preseason Fix with NASCAR Preview 2012 Presented by Sprint
NASCAR's Acceleration Weekend returned a fan favorite tradition that was missing, and it was a resounding success, with some fans spending long hours outdoors in cool, damp weather so they could race in to see their favorite drivers.
It was a festival-like experience for NASCAR fans of all ages.
Current drivers and legends in the sport provided an unique interactive experience where they could get autographs, snap photos and participate in question and answer sessions.
Fans could purchase tickets to Friday's NASCAR Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and the NASCAR Preview 2012 Presented by Sprint on Saturday.
NASCAR legends Junior Johnson, Ned Jarrett, Richard Petty, Bud Moore, Bobby Allison and Darrell Waltrip led fan tours throughout the day.
Fans actually camped out from the early morning hours of Friday to be among the first in the door for the NASCAR Acceleration event on Saturday.
The event was a major success for the fans who were pretty much in NASCAR nirvana with the array of drivers from the top-three series of the sport.
Winston Kelley, executive director of the NASCAR Hall of Fame stated, "This is just the start to us, and I think we can make it even bigger and better."
Diehard NASCAR fans face a withdrawal of sorts between the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway and Speedweeks at Daytona.
Fans got their fix at the NASCAR Hall of Fame and Charlotte Convention Center at the NASCAR Acceleration Weekend. From this year's turnout, it looks like it will be a great event in 2013.
