Novak Djokovic: Why the Djoker is Simply Toying with the Competition Right Now

Timothy RappJan 23, 2012

Why so serious, tennis world?

It's because Novak Djokovic hasn't lost a set in his first three Australian Open matches and has only lost 10 games total, isn't it?

Yeah, I'll bet that's why. And I don't blame you for being concerned.

Surely, tennis world, you're aware that Djokovic has won this tournament twice before, both last year and in 2008. Or that he won both of the hard court Grand Slams last year, also winning the U.S. Open.

Or that he really loves playing on Rod Laver Arena, as he mentioned in his press conference after defeating Santiago Giraldo in the second round. From The Sun:

"

I like the conditions, the speed of the court, the balls, everything.

It is true that when I step on there I feel that I belong, that I know what to do, that I feel more confident maybe than on other courts around the world.

I don't think anybody is invincible.

It's just a matter of the confidence you have, the self-belief on the court, your qualities as a player, being out there physically, mentally and being able to perform your best on a day-to-day basis.

"

That's a bad sign for you, tennis world. The man who went 10-1 against Rafaell Nadal and Roger Federer last year, won three Grand Slam titles and 41 straight matches and has dominated thus far in Australia is feeling confident and comfortable.

I know what you're thinking—he looked vulnerable at the end of the 2011 season. He can't possibly repeat his dominance again this year.

Well folks, the Djoker is well-rested and healthy these days, as this is his first tournament of the season. He's feeling good.

So I get why you're so serious these days when thinking about Djokovic, tennis world.

Be as serious as you like—it isn't going to help you beat him.

Hit me up on Twitter—that's where the magic happens.
