Ravens vs. Patriots Video: Watch Steven Tyler Butcher the National Anthem

Steven Tyler did not earn a golden ticket for this performance. I was hoping that Ray Lewis would come from off-screen and annihilate the Aerosmith legend mid-song.

He tries to add his trademark scream to give it some pizazz and signature feel, but it was too late. This will go down as one of those horrible celebrity renditions of the National Anthem.

I was immediately reminded of the classic Aerosmith tune "Dude Looks Like A Lady", that was certainly the case here, albeit a very old and weary one.

I wonder what the feedback would have been on American Idol, if Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez had an opportunity to critique this performance.

Randy Jackson:

"Dog, that was pitchy...you are not in it, to win it, singing is just, not your thing"

Jennifer Lopez:

"Ooh...sweety...I think you could have been a little better. I wanna see a little more passion from you sweety. Maybe next time, you can come back next year. OK?

Hey I guess he is entitled to a clunker. After all, he is a legend, I do love his work, but at 63 years old, he may have lost the ability to put on quality performances in these situations. At least they played "Sing for the Moment" over the PA after he sang.
