Mayweather vs. Pacquiao: Bob Arum Must Man Up and Make Superfight Happen

The most anticipated boxing match ever is very close to getting done. However, it's promoter Bob Arum who has to be the one to step up and ensure the world gets to see a fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao. 

It's no secret these two wish to fight one another, but Arum is the current hold up. Sure, both sides could budge a little more than they have to make a fight happen, but it's Arum who has the power to finalize a deal right now. 

Mayweather wants to fight on May 5 at the MGM Grand because he already has a deal in place for that day. Arum and Pacquiao wish to fight at the end of May, but that wouldn't work out for Mayweather, who is expected to serve jail-time beginning in June. 

"I really feel that this kind of fight is so big, that it should be treated like the Super Bowl of boxing. It needs time and it needs a bigger, outdoor arena," Arum told The Daily Telegraph.

Not everyone is going to get their wish for this fight, and it's something boxing fans can live with. As long as Pacquiao and Mayweather go head-to-head, the people wouldn't even care if it was in some random person's backyard.

They want the fight, and Arum needs to give it to them. 

Mayweather has taken to Twitter to voice his opinion on Pacquiao, even calling him out. His most recent shot was at Arum. 

However, according to BoxingScene.com, Arum doesn't believe anything Mayweather says. 

"They got to get off this May 5 date," said Arum. "Their statement that they’re obligated by the court to fight on May 5 is complete and utter poppycock. We have the court order. It doesn’t say anything like that." 

All of this he-said she-said mumbo jumbo needs to come to an end, and the two parties need to figure out a deal quickly. 

While both fighters continue to train, their people have to get this done. All Arum has to do is man up and make the fight happen on May 5. 

Fans have grown extremely tired, not only of Arum, but of all of this mess. They've been loyal to the sport for many years, and they deserve to be rewarded with a superfight between Mayweather and Pacquiao. 

They're closer than they ever were before, but the stubborn ways of Arum is putting a halt to everything. He's looking more at the money side of things, which in a way is understandable. 

However, this fight is going to make tons of money no matter the location. The longer the wait, the less likely it will occur, which is exactly why Arum has to get things done. 

Greed should be thrown to the side right now and Arum should step up and give the people what they want. That is, Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao.
