National Signing Day 2012: The Top Recruits Who Could Make Surprise Decisions
We're in store for several big-time announcements on NSD and recruiting is coming down the home stretch. It's going to be a day full of surprises, as NSD always is.
For this read, I'm just going to give you a couple big-name, high-profile recruits that very could make some surprising decisions. It may even be a surprise they are even on this list.
Let's start surprising.
5. Isaac Seumalo, OL
1 of 5Seumalo has been an Oregon State commit for quite some time. He's also seen his stock rise, as Scout.com now lists him as the No. 1 OG in the country.
However, the Beaver pledge took a recent trip to USC and the Trojans now are in the thick of things. Seumalo will trip to Corvalis in the coming weeks before deciding his final move.
USC could pry a prime-time OL prospect from Mike Riley, as Seumalo could choose to spurn his father's team and sign with the Trojans.
4. Andrus Peat, OT
2 of 5Peat has obvious ties to Nebraska, as the Cornhuskers are home to his brother. Many have felt Big Red has the inside track on him and that it's only a matter of when Peat signs with Nebraska.
But, if he was such a slam dunk, then why hasn't he committed yet? Could it be that Stanford, USC or Florida State have really entrenched themselves in the mix?
If so, Peat could surprisingly opt to sign with one of the latter-mentioned schools over playing with his brother.
3. Jameis Winston, QB
3 of 5Winston is committed to Florida State, as he announced for the 'Noles last summer over Alabama and LSU. However, 'Bama has stayed on him and Winston could choose to meet with new OC Doug Nussmeier before he makes a final choice.
Winston also has recently tripped to Stanford and cancelled his scheduled visit to Ohio State. Where is Florida State in all of this?
Winston could choose to sign with Stanford or Alabama over FSU.
2. Mario Edwards, DE
4 of 5Edwards shocked many last spring by committing to Florida State over Texas so early in the process. He seemed content with his choice until he began having second thoughts during the fall.
Now, Edwards has interest in LSU, Oklahoma and Texas, with FSU still hanging in there. For me, either way he goes is going to be surprising.
Edwards could opt to stick with FSU, head to Texas or sign with LSU.
1. Stefon Diggs, WR
5 of 5Any decision Diggs makes is going to surprise me. He's been that open.
In all of his updates he always speaks on how he has no leaders, no favorites, is open and each coaching staff he feels comfortable with and so forth.
Just read this article and see if you can get a read on him for yourself.
