WWE News: Big Show Reportedly Injured at Tuesday's Smackdown Taping

Drake OzJan 19, 2012

The WWE has been bitten by the injury bug.ย

Since mid-2011, the company has seen a number of its top stars sit on the shelf with a wide variety of injuries.ย

Sin Cara and Rey Mysterio are still out of action after they both underwent knee surgery, Christian has been out for more than two months with a high ankle sprain, Alberto Del Rio is nursing a torn groin, and Randy Orton has a herniated disc in his lower back, among others.ย

Unfortunately for the WWE, it looks like another star could soon be added to the injured list.ย

The Big Show reportedly suffered a back injury at last night's WWE SmackDown tapings in Las Vegas. According to early reports, he landed wrong and hurt his back against Daniel Bryan in the dark match main event.ย

"

While the extent of Big Showโ€™s injury is still unknown, this could be yet another big blow to the WWE.ย

As noted earlier, the company is already trying to make due without a number of its top stars, and Big Show is at the center of the biggest angle on Smackdown. His feud with Daniel Bryan has stolen the spotlight on Friday nights for the last several weeks, and presumably, the two are set to be involved in some sort of World Heavyweight Championship match at the Royal Rumble.ย

Assuming that Big Showโ€™s injury isnโ€™t too serious (which I doubt it is), I would fully expect him to work through the pain in order to keep his storyline with Bryan going.ย

Should Big Show need to take any time off, heโ€™s going to throw a huge wrench into creativeโ€™s plans for Smackdown, and he would miss a big Royal Rumble payday. I donโ€™t think thatโ€™ll happen, though.ย

Much like Mark Henryโ€™s been doing, Show will likely work his way around his back injury by not taking too many bumps and finding other ways to make his presence known on Smackdown.ย

Big Showโ€™s injury could throw a ton of responsibility on Bryan, though, because if both Show and Henry arenโ€™t at 100 percent, itโ€™ll be up to Bryan to carry them during their likely Triple Threat match at the Royal Rumble.
