WWE Royal Rumble 2012: 10 Things We Must See at the PPV Event

David LevinJun 7, 2018

Let the buzz begin. I know the buzz has been ongoing now for some time, but can't you just feel the electricity in the air? Everything is big and bold right about now. And in the immortal words of our buddy, Jim Ross, "Business is about to pick up."

While we know for sure there are two matches scheduled and more to follow, the 30-man Battle Royal "will" surprise us all. And while we are waiting for the "impossible" to happen, we also know there will be a few things that won't happen that "should."

PPV events like this one are supposed to tease us and please us at the same time.

We will see the unknown, wish we had seen better matches and pray that the unthinkable will come true. That is the beauty of the WWE and the situation both Smackdown and Raw are in right now.

But these here are some things we need to see so the WWE can move forward, especially toward WrestleMania 28.

Somehow, Mick Foley Needs to Be Involved

1 of 10

He petitioned to be in the 30-Man Battle Royal and was told "NO!" by John Laurinaitis.

And then, the tirade ensued at the end of the show after CM Punk gave a masterful shoot, and well, Foley paid the price for the champion's words.

Seeing Foley somehow save the day and help Punk retain the title would be "AWESOME," and it may get Johnny Ace involved physically with Foley.

See, Foley is "GOOD!"

Cody Rhodes Must Face Goldust

2 of 10

We saw the video of Rhodes attack his older brother Dustin a few weeks back. If we did not see it on television during the Smackdown telecast, we saw the footage later.

Is this enough to enrage the dramatic wonder to put the gold and black back on and take on the youngest Rhodes wrestler?

Cody has been a ray of hope as of late for the WWE. While wrestling angles (Daniel Bryan) have been sour, Rhodes has been masterful with the feuds with Booker T and his sibling and looks like he is ready to climb another rung on the WWE title ladder.

The plot line is great because everyone would love to see the two battle, but it has more depth than you think. While daddy, Dusty Rhodes, has been firmly entrenched in the younger Rhodes corner as he has made his rise to fame, the same cannot be said for the growth and development of older Dustin.

Does this match make the family a closer-knit group, or does it further drive a wedge in the heart of the matter?

We Need to See the Re-Emergence of a Superstar

3 of 10

Could it be Christian? Could it be Randy Orton? Could we see Mick Foley again? What about Rey Mysterio?

Whoever it is, and it may not be any of these wrestlers, the dramatic must happen.

Whether it was John Cena, Ric Flair or Steve Austin, all Royal Rumble Battle Royals have the "unknown" factor, which makes it a "must see."

How about this...RVD in the Royal Rumble with the 30 selection?

It could happen.

Someone Needs to Challenge for the US Title

4 of 10

I am not happy with Jack Swagger having a strap.

I'm not all that jazzed with Zack Ryder having one either.

There are plenty of deserving wrestlers who could have the gold around their waist and defend it with honor. Jack Swagger and R-Truth would be a great match. But that won't happen.

I assume Ryder will get his rematch and probably bring back the title to Long Island.

R-Truth and the Miz Need to Happen

5 of 10

I'm telling you it could be one of the best feuds of 2012 if it is written correctly and it is played out.

And it does not end in a matter of weeks.

The Miz is one of the best in the company. Period.

If R-Truth becomes more of a believable "face," then it garners the attention it needs and can have some of the pop other feuds in the past have had in the WWE.

Someone Needs to Spice Up the Diva's Division

6 of 10

Could we see the return of Kharma or Layla? Is there a Lita sighting in the near future?

With the right angle, the Divas could get red hot again.

Since the tag-team division is nearly dead, the Divas could be asked to step up, which helps all the women on the roster get recognized.

Bring Jim Ross Back to the Commentary

7 of 10

The biggest PPV events need the nest commentators. Jim Ross is the best.

There is a sense of loss each week when Ross is not there. His golden voice and his banter with Jerry Lawler and yes, Michael Cole is golden. He is a "Solie" and should not be off the mic.

Ross does the same thing Gordon Solie did. He made the most unthinkable seem real.

John Cena Needs to "BEAT" Kane

8 of 10

Not just beat Kane for the victory. Cena needs to show vengeance and pulverize the Big Red Machine.

It will show Cena's true colors. It is what Kane wants to see and the fans as well. The fans were firmly behind Cena on Monday night when he was beating the hell out of Jack Swagger. He let go of himself and allowed his true persona to show.

It was an awesome sight.

CM Punk Needs to Walk Away with the WWE Title

9 of 10

While Punk has all the odds against him, he still needs to win the match.

He also needs to sell and put Dolph Ziggler over and show he is still the best in the world at what he does.

The win, although leading to bigger things, will entrench him as champion until WrestleMania 28 when...

Chris Jericho Attacks Then Challenges CM Punk for the WWE Title

10 of 10

Jericho hasn't said anything yet, but his words are loud and clear.

There will be a match between himself and Punk.

While Ziggler can carry the strap, he still could use some more seasoning (as it has been said by you the fans), and Jericho is more than ready to step in and make it happen in the ring.

Jericho/Punk is Michaels/Punk all over again.
