Michigan Football Recruiting: Skill Position Studs to Complement Denard Robinson

Denard Robinson needs help. Right now, the dual-threat Michigan quarterback is as electrifying as any player in the nation. However, unless the Wolverines coaching staff can provide him with more weapons on offense, they won't reach their ultimate goal of a national title next season.

With that in mind, here are three committed prospects that should help Robinson become more efficient in the passing game in 2012.

Devin Funchess

Funchess is listed as a tight end, but could end up playing a role similar to that of Jermichael Finley of the Green Bay Packers. Splitting time between being on the outside and along the line should keep defenses off balance and make him a more dangerous target for Robinson.

ESPN lists him as a four-star recruit with tremendous hands as his best attribute. Since Robinson is known to be a little wild, the combination of size and catching ability should help Funchess make an immediate impact with the Wolverines.

Amara Darboh

Darboh will bring his elite speed to Ann Arbor in hopes of giving Robinson a legitimate deep threat to replace Junior Hemingway. The departing senior led the team in receiving last season, leaving a big hole on the roster heading into next year.

As a result, hopes are high for Darboh, who is four-star wideout according to Rivals. The Iowa native is compared to Roddy White in the report, which is high praise for somebody who hasn't played a single game in college yet. He has the look of a star.

Jehu Chesson

Chesson isn't as highly-regarded as the previous two players, but there's a good chance he'll surprise some people. His height will be an obvious advantage at 6'3'', but he's going to need to bulk up in order to survive the grind of a college season.

He's already a good route runner, according to his ESPN profile, which is something most young receivers struggle with early on. That should give Michigan fans a lot of hope that he'll be able to greatly outplay his three-star rating.
