Who Else Can Notre Dame's Brian Kelly Add After Gunner Kiel?
Notre Dame always recruits well and this season has been no different for the Irish. They have landed some of the top players at each position and appear to be one of the more talented teams heading into next season.
The most recent commitment comes from quarterback Gunner Kiel, as he decommited from the LSU Tigers and will suit up in a Notre Dame uniform instead.
This of course is a huge pickup for Brian Kelly and company. He has a top quarterback running his team and they can really go places and make up for a lot of his team's weaknesses.
With this commitment, here are a few others that may jump on the Irish bandwagon as well.
WR Dorial Green-Beckham
1 of 5This may be a stretch, as it appears that Green-Beckham is more interested in the southern schools and the ones closer to home, than South Bend.
But when a program lands a top quarterback, one of the top wide receivers has to at least show a little interest. Could you imagine these two players hooking up for the next few seasons?
Green-Beckham is rated the No. 1 receiver in this year's class. At 6'6", 220 pounds, you should see why. He has the speed to get down field and at his size, he is a huge target in the red zone. A player of his caliber will instantly make a difference on the offensive end.
He's showing tons of interest in schools such as Arkansas, Missouri, Texas and Oklahoma. With Gunner Kiel at quarterback, the Irish may have an outside shot now.
OT Arik Armstead
2 of 5Armstead is one of the top offensive linemen left on the board, although he will prefer to play on the defensive side of the ball when he steps on campus.
This is a big guy at 6'8", 275 pounds and will really be a difference maker on either side of the ball. He is a big athlete, very strong and has an explosion to his game like no other.
He was originally committed to USC, but wanted to explore more of his options before making it official.
Notre Dame is on that list, along with Oregon, USC, California, Alabama and Auburn.
CB Ronald Darby
3 of 5Ronald Darby committed to Notre Dame, but recently backed out as he wanted to explore more of his options. Now that Notre Dame has picked up a top quarterback and their future looks much brighter, this move may convince him to stay.
Darby is the nation's top cornerback. With holes in the secondary, his commitment is extremely valuable to the Irish.
He's looking at schools such as Auburn, Alabama, Clemson and Florida State, but it's important to know that the Irish are not out of the race.
OG Joshua Garnett
4 of 5We should expect a decision soon from Garnett as he is making his final visits. He visited with Notre Dame back in December, a program very high on his list, especially with academics being such a big part of his final decision.
Garnett is one of the top guards in this year's class and would really help protect the new quarterback they just landed. He has a very high football IQ, has a motor that never quits and absolutely dominates at the line.
This would be a huge pickup for the Irish, but they're still competing with schools like Michigan, Stanford, UCLA and USC.
S Nelson Agholor
5 of 5The Irish are deep at the safety position in this year's class already, but it wouldn't hurt to add Nelson Agholor, one of the top at the position. He also has the ability to play on offense as well.
With his speed, he is a home run hitter. He has excellent ball skills and great instincts.
Notre Dame was actually the first program he visited back in October. Schools such as Florida, Florida State and Oklahoma are also in the running for his services.
