Manny Pacquiao's Trainer Freddie Roach Reality Show Begins January 20th on HBO
According to a press release from the executive producers of HBO, Boxing Hall of Famer and five-time Trainer of the Year Freddie Roach debuts his own reality show, ON FREDDIE ROACH this Friday January 20th on HBO at (9:30-10:00 p.m. ET/PT).
Roach is a seasoned veteran reality television star of some sorts from his numerous appearances in the award-winning reality series HBO's 24/7, which focuses on the lives of the superstar fighters.
ON FREDDIE ROACH on the other hand focuses on the world famous trainer's personal life with his ongoing battle with Parkinson's disease all the while accomplishing various accolades as a trainer to over 20 world champions including: Manny Pacquiao, Mike Tyson, Amir Khan and Oscar De La Hoya.
"Friday Night Lights" famed producer Peter Berg is executive producer for ON FREDDIE ROACH as well as HBO Boxing commentator Jim Lampley, Sarah Aubrey and Michael Price.
The HBO Original Programming presentation is a co-production of Film 44 and Atticus Entertainment.
Roach has quite a unique partnership with the U.S. Olympic Committee in which he was brought on to ensure that the top American amateurs are provided with the best training in preparation for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
Freddie is a 51-year-old bachelor who lives next door to his mother and just miles away from the now world famous Wild Card boxing gym.
One of the most profoundly unique things that we the viewers of HBO 24/7 learned about Roach was how his mother taught him to promise her two things. One was to never get married, and the second was to always brush his teeth.
This to me is true reality television when reality stars are being this honest and intimate with all the viewers on such a personal level with their own mothers.
Unlike the infamous reputation and image that many other reality shows often derive from, I have a feeling that ON FREDDIE ROACH will be a popular success for much different reasons just like the award winning reality program HBO's 24/7 became known for.
