NFL Playoff Predictions: Eli Manning and Stars Sure to Flop in Championship Game

Eric BowmanJun 7, 2018

The NFL postseason is down to just four teams, which means the pressure continues to build. Unfortunately for some teams, some of their players will fail to show up this coming weekend.

The AFC and NFC Championship games should be entertaining, but when a few stars fall flat on their face, it won't sit well with their fans.

They've carried their teams this far, but the road will soon end.

With that said, here are three players sure to flop in the championship round.

Eli Manning

The New York Giants played well, but let's be honest, the Green Bay Packers really beat themselves. Six dropped passes and four turnovers ruined their dreams of winning back-to-back Super Bowl titles.

Do give credit to the Giants for avoiding mistakes, but that won't happen when they make their trip out west to face the San Francisco 49ers.

These two teams played earlier in the year, when Eli Manning threw two interceptions and the Giants lost by a touchdown.

While I do expect this to be a good game, Manning will once again doom his team. His confidence is sky high after playing very well, but he wasn't challenged by the defense in his last two games.

Now Manning takes on a stout defense, and he will fail in his quest to get back to the Super Bowl.

The first time Gore went up against the Giants this season, he suffered a knee injury and had to leave the game. He did carry the ball six times before his injury and failed to gain any yards.

New York knows that in order to beat the 49ers, it has to shut down Gore and the run game. Putting the pressure on Alex Smith to win the game is key for the Giants.

Sure, Smith delivered against the Saints, but their defense is not as strong as the Giants. Smith had an OK performance in the first game, doing just enough to get the victory. That won't fly this time around.

Gore will get a good number of carries, but he won't find much success on the ground. The Giants are committed to limiting his production, and they will come through, forcing Smith to try to beat them.

Joe Flacco

Yes, the New England Patriots defense is atrocious, and Flacco will put up great numbers just like most quarterbacks who face them.

However, Tom Brady is going to put points on the board, meaning Flacco has to match him. Keeping up with the league's best QB will prove to be too much for Flacco, and this is where he will fail.

Flacco will find himself behind, and instead of staying calm and cool, he will force throws, allowing the Patriots defense to make simple plays and get turnovers.

The Ravens' season rests on the arm of Flacco, and in the big moment, he will once again succumb to the pressure.
