Australian Open 2012 TV Schedule: Top Men's Matches to Watch on Jan. 18

Eduardo AfiniJun 1, 2018

Day three of the 2012 Australian Open kicks off tonight with some interesting second round matchups on the men’s side.

TV coverage begins tonight at 7:00 p.m. on Tennis Channel until 9:00 p.m. and continues on ESPN 2 from 9:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Juan Martin Del Potro will be on the courts today and shouldn’t have any trouble to find their way through the third round.

With John Isner and David Nalbandian featuring the best match of the day, the slides to follow show that there are plenty of reasons for you to lose some sleep tonight and enjoy good tennis.

Mardy Fish vs. Alejandro Falla

1 of 5

Mardy Fish had a tricky first round match against former US Open quarterfinalist Gilles Muller, from Luxembourg, but took care of business in straight sets.

Alejandro Falla is a talented lefty from Colombia and defeated Italian Fabio Fognini in the first round.

Currently in great form and being more experienced than his opponent, the American should cruise his way through the third round.

Rafael Nada vs. Tommy Hass

2 of 5

Although Rafa shouldn’t have any problem to reach the third round, this could be an interesting match to watch.

Veteran Tommy Hass has been ranked as high as No. 2 in the world and has reached the semifinal round of the Australian Open in three different occasions.

Even though he is in the final years of his career, the German has a beautiful game and should provide some entertainment to the crowd.

Sam Querrey vs. Bernard Tomic

3 of 5

Sam Querrey comes from an expected win in the first round against the big Frenchman Kenny De Schepper, ranked 135 in the world, in straight sets.

Bernard Tomic is the Australian hope and lived up to the expectations taking out No. 22 seed Fernando Verdasco in the first round in a tough five set battle.

Considering the momentum and the fact that he is playing at home, Tomic is the favorite to reach the third round.

Stanislas Wawrinka vs. Marcos Baghdatis

4 of 5

This should be a very entertaining matchup.

Both players come to the second round after comfortable wins in the opening day and therefore should be well-rested.

Wawrinka’s beautiful one-handed backhand against crowd's favorite and big ball striker Baghdatis will provide the viewers with some high quality tennis.

Although the Swiss is seeded in the tournament, the Cypriot and former runner up down under should be the slight favorite to take this one.

John Isner vs. David Nalbandian

5 of 5

This is definitely the best match of the day.

The big American had a comfortable win in the first round against Benjamin Mitchel, from Austria.

David Nalbandian took out Jarkko Nieminen, who had just captured the title in Sidney last week, after the man from Finalnd was forced to retire.

The Argentine has all the resources to handle the American’s big serve and big game, which will be the key for him to succeed. However, due to the momentum and difference in recent success, John Isner walks on the court as the favorite.
