Last night at UFC 142, Rousimar Palhares proved once again why he is one of MMA's most dangerous submission artists. 

Palhares submitted Mike Massenzio in the first round of their fight via heel hook. 

Palhares has become come one of the UFC's most feared fighters because of how brutal his submissions can end up being. 

Because of this, he has become one of the best submission artists in MMA today.

Donald Cerrone had a breakout year in 2011. 

Cerrone won four of his five fights, which includes two submission victories. 

Thirteen of Cerrone's 17 wins have come by way of submission. 

Nate Diaz

Nate Diaz, much like his older brother Nick, can be a threat no matter where the fight goes.

Since his 2010 loss to Gilbert Melendez, Aoki has been on a seven-fight winning streak, which includes five submissions. 

Demian Maia

Although it's been a while since Demain Maia has had a submission victory, he is still one of the best in the game today. 

Maia has eight submission wins to his credit which includes one over Chael Sonnen. 

Maia has won the "Submission of the Night" bonus four times and has also won many grappling competitions. 

Frank Mir

Former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir is not only known for the number of submission victories he has, he's known for breaking people's arms. 

Mir's won 16 fights, with nine of those victories coming by submission. 

Mir's victims include Brock Lesnar and arm-breaking performances against Tim Sylvia and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.
