NFL Playoff Predictions: Why Packers, Patriots Destined to Meet in Super Bowl

What happens when two immovable objects collide?  We may soon get to find out if the Green Bay Packers and the New England Patriots follow the same path of destiny on the road to Super Bowl XVLI.

Are the Patriots the team of the past about to take on the team of the future? Is Tom Brady passing the torch to Aaron Rodgers, knowing this may be the last time the Patriots can find the Promised Land?

There is an interesting dynamic in the possibility of this matchup. The two teams met before in a Super Bowl when some guy named Favre was playing, earning his only Lombardi Trophy, but that was eons ago, and now, two of the game's best passers are on course to compete on the game's grandest stage.

The NFL could not have asked for a better opportunity. And while the old adage about defenses winning championships can be thrown out the window in this possible contest, we could see the highest-scoring Super Bowl of all time (and every passing record thrown out the window).

The Packers of today are a lot like the Patriots of a few years ago: quick, high-scoring, always with their foot on gas pedal and, of course, a coach (Bill Belichick and Mike McCarthy) who gives little away to the media in terms of preparation.

While battles between the Steelers and Cowboys or Bengals and 49ers, or even the Cowboys and Broncos, have brought great drama and excitement, they may not be able to top a contest like this. Both have great receivers, solid tight end play and running games that leave something to be desired but that can be called on in a pinch.

The Patriots defense found its mojo against the Broncos on Saturday night when it stopped another immovable object in Tim Tebow. Does the Packers defense do the same thing against Eli Manning?

If everything goes according to plan, and so far it has, then this contest could be one of the best of all-time. And that is something you would expect from two teams that appear to be mirror images of each other.
