UFC 142 Results: Mike Pyle's Destruction of Ricardo Funch Gets Him Back on Track

Jeff ChaseJan 14, 2012

It only took a grand total of 82 seconds for Mike Pyle to KO Ricardo Funch, and it looks like the victor may be back on the right track following his performance at UFC 142 in Rio.

Pyle was coming into this fight losing his previous fight to Rory MacDonald at UFC 133. He has lost eight fights in his career, but he was coming into 133 with three straight victories. In those victories, Pyle won in in Round 3, two of which were by unanimous decision.

The only one he had claimed without winning by decision was against Jesse Lennox at UFC 115, where he won by submission.

This victory was huge for the man they call Quicksand, as it was his first win by TKO in his entire UFC career.

It will remain to be seen if he will be able to keep it up, but he looked really good in this fight.

Funch only got two strikes in on him, while Pyle was able to get in 11 of his own. While it will remain to be seen if perhaps Funch was just overwhelmed, this fight could perhaps pave the way for Pyle to find himself creating a new streak.

Pyle is now 4-3 with the UFC, looking to perhaps find some consistency so that he can stick around.

Before he won his three straight matches, he was winning and losing on and off. His losses haven't been that convincing either, as he has been finished twice in the first round of his three UFC fights.

He has a chance now to move up the rankings, and perhaps make a better name for himself. If Pyle can become any where near consistent, he can really make some noise within the welterweight division.
