Jeff Hardy Talks About Addiction, Recovery and Matt in Miami Herald Interview

The Doctor Chris MuellerMay 31, 2018

The Miami Herald recently did an interview with former WWE and current TNA wrestler Jeff Hardy. The original interview can be read at this link.

Here is what Hardy had to say on the subject of addiction:

"

It’s easy to do. It’s easy to get addicted, but if you never start, you’ll never have to stop. That’s the best advice I can give anybody. I’m back to a place now where I was before, where I don’t need a pill to go paint a canvas. That’s my new fix is doing it again. It took a while to get there, but I’m here, and I’m a father now as well. That’s another huge inspiration in my life.

This is a good attitude for Hardy to have. Having seen first hand what addiction can do to a person I can tell you that his chances of staying clean are very good as long as he keeps this stuff in mind.

He has a family of his own now and it is great to hear him say he is dedicated to being the best he can be for them.

Here is what Hardy had to say on the subject of recovery:

"

You look back and you go, ‘Why was I doing what I was doing?' It takes a while, but after when you do sober up and months go by, you kind of look back. I was lost. I was like, ‘What the he## was I doing?' It’s crazy. Early remission was a great gift for me, and then it’s just been steady climbing. So the best advice to kids is do what you love. Also, never start [alcohol, drugs], and you’ll never have to stop.

I’ve got my hardcore fans, and I thank them so much for being there for me and not giving up on me.

"

It is really great to hear that he is not only working to better himself, but that he has kept things in perspective. Knowing he had fans that were there for him was probably a huge support to him in those trying times.

Here is what Hardy had to say regarding Matt.

"

Through everything that has happened recently, to see Matt now, I think he’s doing really well. Even with my daughter now, I kind of know how my dad feels.

Myself, Matt and my dad, there’s a bond there that should be stronger than anything, and to me it is. Hopefully Matt can think more along the lines of how special our dad is and just cherish every moment he is here with us, because he will be gone one day. Every daughter should, every son should care about their loved ones.

"

After seeing Matt's last video and now reading this it really sounds like both Hardy's are on the right track. It was truly a sad story when both brothers went from being two of WWE's most beloved superstars to both having addiction and legal issues.

Jeff Hardy is someone who I am not sure if we will ever see in WWE again, but watching his recent TNA matches you can tell that he has refocused himself.

He is better in the ring than he has been in nearly a year and he seems like he has plenty to keep himself occupied, especially his young child.

I am looking forward to what both Hardy's have in store for the future.
