NBA Rumors: 4 Teams That Must Gamble on Rasheed Wallace
Controversial and veteran NBA power forward Rasheed Wallace is contemplating a return to the NBA.
Wallace was one of the more versatile big men of his era and averaged nearly 15 points and seven rebounds throughout his 15 year NBA career.
His ability to extend the defense on the offensive end and his ability of muscle up on the block at the defensive end could go a long way if he's in shape and can still do those things effectively.
Even though he's 37, if Wallace is in decent shape and willing to accept a limited role, he's probably a better option for teams in need of another big body.
No teams have shown immediate interest in Wallace, but purely speculating, here's a few that could use him.
Boston Celtics
Celtics fans may cringe at this idea, but they need frontcourt help badly. Boston is 29th out of 30 NBA teams in rebounding, and they could some extra production from a guy like Wallace, even in short stretches.
Dallas Mavericks
Mark Cuban has been known to take a risk or two ,and while the Mavericks don't really need more age on this team, they also could use another productive big man at both ends of the floor.
Atlanta Hawks
With the loss of Al Horford, the Hawks are desperate for another big guy that can produce. Wallace may be able to have a bigger role on a team like this.
Chicago Bulls
Both Carlos Boozer and Joakim Noah have been getting pine time in the fourth quarter of late. If Wallace could come in and do a good defensive job, it might be worth the risk for Chicago. Of course, there's also the option that he comes in and disrupts the locker room.
