NFL Playoff Predictions: Bold Predictions for the Divisional Round

Tony SantorsaJun 1, 2018

When you hear bold predictions, you may think that I'm crazy—but believe it or not, I'm actually right a lot of the time. Just take a look at my Wild Card predictions from a week ago!

With that being said, this weekend we have one intriguing slate of games ahead of us with Tebow and the Denver Broncos taking on the New England Patriots, while polar opposites in the New Orleans Saints and the San Francisco 49ers take on each other. Eli and the New York Giants get another shot at the Green Bay and the Houston Texans pay a visit to the Baltimore Ravens.

In that spirit, let's dive right into the bold predictions for the divisional round.

The New Orleans Saints Will Embarrass the San Francisco 49ers

Drew Brees is simply white hot right now—I mean, he is playing out of his mind. He can not be stopped.

I realize that the San Francisco 49ers have an elite defense, but their secondary will be no match for Brees and his lethal weapons.

This game will simply prove how inexperienced the 49ers are and how the Saints are primed for yet another Super Bowl appearance.

Ray Rice Will be Held Under 100 Yards Rushing

If Ray Rice can't get his game going then the Baltimore Ravens will struggle tremendously.

Wade Phillips has done a phenomenal job with Houston's defense this season as they finished the season as the fourth-ranked rush defense, and it will show how dominant they are against Rice and the Ravens on Sunday.

The Houston Texans Will Upset the Baltimore Ravens

I have gone on record saying that I am going with the Baltimore Ravens on this one, but I have decided to change my mind real fast after a week of leaning towards this direction anyways.

It will be a close one, but I see the Houston Texans squeezing out on top.

Tom Brady and the New England Patriots Will Destroy the Denver Broncos

Wait a second, how can this be bold? Well for starters, I am saying that Tom Brady and the Patriots will absolutely embarrass Tim Tebow and the Broncos. I'm thinking a 45-24 victory, or something along those lines.

I'm sorry Denver, I am a huge Tebow believer, but Tebow Time will come to an end Saturday night.

Rob Gronkowski Will Score Two or More Touchdowns

For those of you who are competing in fantasy football playoffs, Rob Gronkowski is going to give you one hell of a performance.

Back in Week 15 when the Patriots and the Broncos previously met, Denver did the best that they could to eliminate Gronkowski by double-teaming him. Ultimately it came back to haunt them, as Tom Brady found other receivers and scored 41 points.

I highly doubt that Denver will do the exact same game plan, as it obviously did not work, which leads me to believe that Gronkowski will have a monster day.

The New York Giants Will Upset the Green Bay Packers

Call me crazy, but Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers will fall Sunday afternoon.

The Giants should have beat the Packers back in Week 13, but they fell just short 38-35—but this will all change Sunday.

New York will find a way to put pressure on Rodgers and Eli Manning will shred Green Bay's horrid secondary with the likes of Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks running wild.
