Tim Tebow Shouldn't Worry Bill Belichick and the Patriots

Ryan RudnanskyJun 7, 2018

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has gone through his usual spiel before he faces Tim Tebow's Denver Broncos.

Said Belichick on Thursday before the Patriots' divisional-round matchup with the Broncos, via the Boston Globe:

"

"You have to worry about everything with Denver's offense. You have to worry about the running game, the passing game, the backs, the receivers, the quarterback, the offensive line, they're a well-balanced unit. They get production from everybody and everybody's got to take care of their job. If you just load up on one thing then, you pay the price somewhere else. Got to be able to handle all the elements of the offense and they're going to test you on all of them...

"I'm concerned about all of it."

Belichick said the same thing about Tebow and the Broncos before their Week 15 matchup.

Said Belichick of Tebow, via NFL.com:

"

"I think his passing is good. It was good in college; he was a very productive passer in college, and he’s thrown the ball well in this league. Throws it good short, throws it intermediate, can throw it deep. He's got some very good throws, as good as anybody that you want to put in there."

"

Then the Patriots went on to demolish Tebow and the Broncos, 41-23, while Tebow completed just 50 percent of his passes for 194 yards.

I've got news for you all: this is all a smokescreen by Belichick.

Does Belichick respect Tebow? Yes. Is there reason to be concerned after the Broncos' thrilling win over the Pittsburgh Steelers? Yes. Is Belichick a perfectionist who irons out all worries before the game? Yes.

But is Belichick really worried about Tim Tebow? I don't believe he is.

Let's be honest, when Belichick starts saying Tebow is an accurate quarterback, we know something's up. Belichick knows better than anyone that Tebow has accuracy problems. Tebow wouldn't have completed just 46.5 percent of his passes in the regular season if he was an accurate quarterback.

Does Tebow have something special? Of course he does. His late-game heroics are uncanny and his running ability is hard to stop.

But is Belichick, one of the greatest coaches in NFL history, shaking in his boots?

C'mon, let's be real. No, he isn't. He has Tom Brady and a better team than the Broncos.
