WWE News: WWE Officials Disappointed with This Week's Episode of Raw

Drake OzJun 7, 2018

This week’s episode of Monday Night RAW was certainly a newsworthy one.

We saw the shocking return of Brodus Clay under his new “Funkasaurus” gimmick, the continued silent treatment by Chris Jericho and the progression of the romance angle between Eve and Zack Ryder.

Needless to say, this was one of the more, um, interesting episodes of RAW we’ve gotten from the WWE in quite some time.

So, how do WWE officials feel about the way it played out on TV? Let’s find out.

From PWInsider.com (via WrestleNewz.com):

"

While WWE officials were happy with the way Brodus Clay returned on Monday’s RAW, the general consensus backstage among the WWE crew was that this week’s show in general was a bad one.

"

I have to agree.

The feud pitting John Cena and Zack Ryder against Kane is getting cheesier by the week. As if last week’s segment with Kane attempting to drag Ryder to “hell” wasn’t bad enough, this week we were forced to watch Ryder change a tire in bad horror movie-type fashion and Cena completely no-sell Kane’s attack in the opening segment by sprinting to the ring for the main event.

We also sat through the continuation of the horrible “feud” between Jinder Mahal and Sheamus, as well as the disappointing burial of Kofi Kingston, some horrendous acting by the Bella Twins and some more beef between The Miz and R-Truth (which, for some reason, just really isn’t going over all that well).

The main event between Cena and Ryder was also pretty pointless, because it only served as a means of furthering the Kane/Cena/Ryder feud that takes up a good one-third of the show and is eerily reminiscent of a storyline that would only have worked 20 years ago.

The lone bright spots were the silence from Jericho and Clay’s surprisingly entertaining debut. Other than that, it was an overall lackluster effort from the WWE on Monday night.

That’s obviously not what we should be getting from the WWE at the moment.

The Royal Rumble is right around the corner, and it’s supposed to be one of the WWE’s biggest and most important pay-per-views of the year. It’s the start of the road to WrestleMania, after all.

But the WWE has not pushed the importance of the 30-man Royal Rumble match at all, as the angle between Kane and Cena is overshadowing just about every other storyline that’s currently going on.
