Floyd Mayweather Twitter Rant: Pretty Boy on the Offensive to Land Pacquiao Bout

Mick AkersJun 7, 2018

With the two-day Twitter spat that Floyd Mayweather Jr. is currently in the midst of, the undefeated welterweight champ is going against his usually defensive style of fighting in the ring and taking an offensive stance on getting the mega fight with Manny Pacquiao finally set.

With three years of back-and-forth name calling and finger pointing between the two fighters' camps, Mayweather (42-0, 26 KOs) finally publicly called Pacquiao out publicly via his Twitter account.

The three tweets over the last three days that are getting the most attention are:

Manny Pacquiao I'm calling you out let's fight May 5th and give the world what they want to see

My Jail Sentence was pushed back because the date was locked in. Step up Punk.

I'm ready to put my belt up. What about you Manny Pacquiao? Let's make history.

"

This is the first time that Money May has publicly called out Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38 KOs) by name, and it shows the world that it is indeed Pac-Man's camp that is holding up the fight the world wants to see, after years of each others' camps passing blame onto each other.

Now that the ball is in Pacquiao's camp's court. If the mega fight is not agreed upon by Top Rank and its president, Bob Arum, then all blame can be put on Pacquiao's shoulders. Therefore, his legacy, not Mayweather's, will be forever damaged if the fight never sees the light of day.

We all can hope that Pacquiao and Arum put all excuses aside and accept Mayweather's challenge, and that we are celebrating on May 5th not only for Cinco De Mayo, but for the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight that we all have wanted to see is finally taking place.
