Arsenal Transfer News: Thierry Henry Extension Great for Gunners and Red Bulls
Thierry Henry has returned with much fanfare and an amazing touch of showmanship. The best story of the year for Arsenal fans, however, may in fact be extended a while longer.
The Gunners were set on Henry staying at Emirate for six-and-a-half weeks, but he may be able to stay on for a full eight. That would allow him to feature in the February 26 north London derby against Tottenham.
Goal.com reports Arsenal may be willing to extend the current loan deal with the MLS side New York Red Bulls for a tad longer. Per the report, boss Arsene Wenger states that, while never planned, a stay may be in the future:

"He has six-and-a-half weeks and we have not envisaged more. We can go to eight weeks but not longer.

Longer is not what the Red Bulls nor Arsenal fans want. Gunners supporters may deride that thought, but the fact is lightning has been captured in a very small bottle. His goal against Leeds was no doubt the stuff of legend, but it is hard to imagine the 34-year-old has a great deal more of those moments left.
A couple of months is perfect for what Arsenal fans need to finally say goodbye. The best part for Red Bulls fans is that they will get a fit Henry who will be in the best shape he has been in years.
It seems that even Henry finds his ability to run 90 minutes a bit questionable. Shane Farrington of Goal.com reports on Henry and his current form:
"You always think that [you can still do a job], but whether or not you do always remains to be seen. I just said to Tony Colbert, 'look, you have to get me ready', and he did.
"
I am nowhere near a 90-minute game but he did everything for me to be able to help. You are always going to get what you deserve if you work hard. That has always been my philosophy in the game; you have got to work hard.
His hard work paid off as he sent home the match's only goal against Leeds. Arsenal fans can stand to see a few more moments like that before he is done with his latest Premiership stint.
After that, he will take off to New York and take a great deal of training with him. Henry has to hang up the cleats at some point. That time may not be now, but it's near.
It's a tremendous thing to be able to say farewell with him in an Arsenal kit one last time.
