BCS Standings: Arkansas and Teams That Got Screwed by Voters One Last Time
In what was one of the worst college football seasons in the past decade, teams were screwed over by the super computers the entire season. The fact that Boise State played in a bowl game before Christmas makes me sick to my stomach.
In a season dominated by scandals and conference realignment, it was fitting to have an anti-climactic championship game.
Now the final polls have been released and the following three teams are criminally under-ranked.
No. 5 Arkansas
The Razorbacks are a two-loss team in the most difficult conference in the football. The two losses were against the two teams who played in the BCS National Championship.
Tyler Wilson stepped up and had a season for the ages as Arkansas finished 13th in the nation in passing with just over 300 yards a game. Overall, the offense averaged 36.9 per game, 15th in the nation despite a mere 31 combined points against ‘Bama and LSU.
At a neutral setting there is no doubt the Razorbacks would beat either No. 3 Oklahoma State or No. 4 Oregon.
No. 12 (Coaches)/No. 13 (AP) Baylor
Baylor had the Heisman trophy winner in Robert Griffin III, and they won the most exciting bowl game of the season 67-56. They had an offense that ranked fourth in passing yards (351.5), 10th in rushing yards (235.6) and fourth in total points (45.3).
What more could you ask for in a team that plays in the second-strongest conference in America? Why are two overrated Big Ten schools ranked in front of them?
No. 14 (Coaches)/No. 18 (AP) Houston
The Cougars had about two quarters of bad football this season and didn’t even sniff the Top 10?
Case Keenum (5,631 yards, 48 TDs) had one of the greatest seasons a quarterback in college could ever have. The Cougars embarrassed a Big Ten opponent in their bowl game and led the nation in scoring with 49.3 PPG.
What more can you ask for from a team that can’t compete with the rest of the big Texas schools for recruits?
I think a ranking somewhere around No.10-12 sounds about right.
