2012 NFL Mock Draft: Where Will Baylor QB Robert Griffin III Land?
As most have expected for months, Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III will enter his name into the 2012 NFL draft in the coming days. ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported earlier Tuesday that the Heisman Trophy winner had made up his mind.
Here is Mortensen's tweet:
With Griffin's name in the draft pool, how long can he expect to last come April? In our 2012 NFL Mock Draft, not long. Here's the list:
1. Indianapolis Colts—Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford
2. St. Louis Rams—Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State
3. Minnesota Vikings—Matt Kalil, OT, USC
4. Cleveland Browns—Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor
I think by the time we get to April, Griffin's name won't last to the fourth pick. With so many teams in need of a franchise quarterback, including the Browns, expect a team to move up ahead of No. 4 to ensure they have a chance to take Griffin.
Any number of teams could make the move up: Redskins, Dolphins, Seahawks and possibly even the Browns. In the end, Griffin should almost certainly be a top five pick. Whether he goes No. 2, 3 or 4 depends on whether or not a GM on one of those quarterback-needy teams decides to pull the trigger.
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers—Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU
6. Washington Redskins—Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina
7. Jacksonville Jaguars—Riley Reiff, OT, Iowa
8. Carolina Panthers—Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame
9. Miami Dolphins—Quinton Coples, DE, North Carolina
10. Buffalo Bills—Courtney Upshaw, OLB, Alabama
11. Kansas City Chiefs—Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama
12. Seattle Seahawks—Devon Still, DT Penn State
13. Arizona Cardinals—Jonathan Martin, OT Stanford
14. Dallas Cowboys—Dre Kirkpatrick, CB Alabama
15. Philadelphia Eagles—Luke Kuechly, LB, Boston College
16. New York Jets—Ronnell Lewis, LB, Oklahoma
17. Cincinnati Bengals—Whitney Mercilus, DE Illinois
18. San Diego Chargers—David DeCastro, OG Stanford
19. Chicago Bears—Janoris Jenkins, CB North Alabama
20. Tennessee Titans—Melvin Ingram, DE South Carolina
21. Cincinnati Bengals—Kendall Wright, WR Baylor
22. Cleveland Browns—Mike Adams, OT Ohio State
