WWE News: Vengeance PPV Being Dropped Altogether, Only 12 Events to Air in 2012

The Doctor Chris MuellerJun 1, 2018

TWNP News is reporting that WWE is dropping their pay-per-view event Vengeance from the schedule.

"

WWE will be going back to 12 pay-per-views this year. WWE has reportedly decided to nix the second October pay-per-view – Vengeance. This means there will be several weeks of build between the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view and the Survivor Series pay-per-view.

"

This to me is great news as WWE has had what felt like a very crowded PPV schedule for years now. When they had single Brand PPV events it was not so bad, but once both titles were defended on every show it became a bit much.

That kind of overkill is probably what has led to so much backlash towards Cena. When he held the title for around a year he defended it at every PPV, meaning he either won every match or at least retained the title after the decision.

Frankly I would be happy seeing WWE go down to around eight PPV events per year. This would give them more time to give a proper buildup to their feuds as well as make it easier for fans to buy all the PPV events.

Some fans would like to see every PPV, but at around $50 per event, that adds up to around $650 every year when they show 13 events.

Vengeance did not do well last year with buy rates, which is probably what led WWE to make the decision to drop the event altogether.

The last few months of 2011 felt cramped in regards to PPV events, and with The Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 28 both happening within the next few months, WWE will want people anxious to buy.

What will be most interesting to see is how WWE treats their PPV schedule once the WWE Network is up and running. Will they move any, some, or all of their events to the pay channel? Only time will tell.
