Arsenal Transfer Rumors: The Top 10 Gunners Rumors of the Day

Charlie MelmanJun 7, 2018

Arsenal have a bit of their confidence and form back after the dispatching of Leeds United through a classic moment of Thierry Henry brilliance.

However, the Gunners still have their many needs that need to be assessed during January, and at a club like Arsenal, the rumors are bound to come in thick and fast during any transfer window.

With new speculation and conjecture cropping up every day, here are 10 of the latest juicy Arsenal transfer rumors, listed here for your reading pleasure.

Enjoy.

Matias Suarez

1 of 10

Despite Arsenal's recent acquisition of Thierry Henry, most would still agree that the Gunners still need a permanent striking solution quite badly.

And the Daily Mail reports that the answer may come in the form of Argentine Matias Suarez, who has a poacher's instinct and a good deal of skill and has been plying his trade with Belgian team Anderlecht for a few years.

If this is any indication of the lad's ability, he will be a great addition to the team, should he be purchased.

Demba Ba

2 of 10

Speculation about the future of suddenly prolific Newcastle striker Demba Ba has dramatically intensified of late, as rumors abound that his release clause is as low as £7-10 million.

And, with their aforementioned need for a striker, Arsenal are one of the teams linked to the Senegal international, with the Daily Star among those leading the charge.

Ba would be a welcome addition to Arsenal should he keep up his current form, but whether he would accept a backup role to Robin van Persie remains to be seen.

Salomon Kalou

3 of 10

By now you're probably starting to get the theme of this slideshow––strikers, strikers and more strikers!

Salomon Kalou would appeal to Arsene Wenger's frugality, as reports indicate that the Chelsea super-sub could be available for as little as £3 million.

While Kalou would probably be a better option than Marouane Chamakh, I'm not sure he would add much to the team in terms of quality.

Eric Abidal

4 of 10

Let's take a breather from the relentless flow of rumors about strikers, and focus on a report linking versatile Barcelona defender Eric Abidal with a switch to North London.

Abidal would fill Arsenal's desperate need for a left back, and would serve as an excellent backup to or competitor with Kieran Gibbs when the Englishman returns to health

And Wenger will certainly value his compatriot's versatility, as Abidal can fill in at center half if necessary, as he has done on several occasions for the Catalans.

Lukas Podolski

5 of 10

I simply had to include Podolski on any list of Arsenal transfer rumors. Despite the fact that any deal looks increasingly unlikely, the German's name never ceases to be mentioned on any lists of this nature.

Really, the reason why is pure hope. Podolski would be a fantastic player in red and white, with his versatility on the wing and through the center, and he is the perfect candidate to support Robin van Persie.

Unfortunately, with each passing day it looks more and more likely that a deal is not forthcoming, much to the chagrin of Gooners everywhere.

Taye Taiwo

6 of 10

Proposed as yet another solution to Arsenal's left-back crisis, Taiwo would be quite a fine addition to the squad.

He has done quite well for the Rossoneri, and is a player of real quality. In the typical Italian mold, he is sturdy defensively, but is also quite good at bombing forward.

A loan move is unlikely, but possible nevertheless.

Andrei Arshavin

7 of 10

With another subpar performance against Leeds United, rumors continue to intensify that Andrei Arshavin is paving his way out of the Emirates with every passing game.

Against Leeds, Arshavin botched several great opportunities, and he has repeatedly been unable to show that he is still up to the standard of a professional football player for Arsenal FC.

If Arsenal can get a club to pay Arshavin's fee, his tenure at the Emirates might be over very soon.

Edin Visca

8 of 10

Bet you didn't see that one coming. Istanbul BB winger Edin Visca claims that Arsenal have expressed interest in him, and he is flattered by the Gunners' inquiry.

I don't think I'm the only person who is taking this story with massive lumps of salt, however, as it seems to easy for the player himself to invent stories such as this.

And Arsenal don't need another young, inexperienced winger anyway, regardless of his talent.

Keisuke Honda

9 of 10

Honda is a fantastic midfielder, and would represent a superb purchase, should Arsenal buy him.

The Japanese is being linked to Arsenal as well as Liverpool, and his creativity and knack for goalscoring would add dynamism to the Gunners' attack.

He can be played in a creative role, or in a more Mikel Arteta-like metronomic deep-lying position, and his ability to fill in for Robin van Persie in an emergency would be a huge asset.

Kieran Richardson

10 of 10

It's a bit hard to define what category of transfer rumor Kieran Richardson falls into, because there is no way to determine precisely where he will play.

He could fill in at left back, striker, or anywhere else on the pitch, really, and this versatility is precisely what makes the Englishman a very average player.

Richardson is truly fantastic at nothing, which is a price he pays for being such a jack of all trades. Nevertheless, his signing on a short-term basis would provide a bit of relief to Arsenal fans anxious about the club's current injury crisis.
