Dallas Mavericks White House Video: Watch President Obama Meet the Mavs

Brandon GalvinJun 7, 2018

President Barack Obama is one lucky man.

No, not because he's President of the United States (show off), but because he was able to joke around with the Miami Heat's long-lasting nightmare, the Dallas Mavericks.

The Mavs visited the White House and President Obama today and it was nothing short of fantastic. And I wasn't even there.

The Mavs have a host of characters on the squad, none bigger than the likes of owner Mark Cuban and superstar big man Dirk Nowitzki. It was only fitting then for Obama to let it all loose at the White House ritual. He didn't hold back the jokes and proved just why people in the sports world consider him one of the most likable figures around.

I'm sure it felt great for the Mavs as Obama reminisced about last year's epic journey. The men did something none before them were ever able to accomplish: bring the NBA Championship to the Dallas Mavericks organization.

At this point though, they'll have to continue living in the past. The team now is a shell of its former 2011 postseason-self as Cuban clearly is looking ahead to the summer of 2012. The Mavs have zero chance at repeating this year. They desperately need to make some sort of splash at the trade deadline if they want to even make a run for the Western Conference Championship, let alone the NBA Title.

The Mavs might be better off letting Obama suit up. Considering his charisma and known skills, he would probably get more out of the team than what they're showing right now. Imagine Dirk setting a pick for Obama to circle around to receive a Jason Kidd-pass for a quick j? Epic.

The White House visit that reminds us of the great moments that many have already forgotten from last year's epic finals against the villainous. Still, the wear, tear, sweat, blood and tears these Mavs poured into winning the title will never be forgotten.
