Toronto Maple Leafs Notes, Game Day Edition: GM Meetings Update

Mats Sundin Update

Day Two of the GM meetings is in the books and it was the final chance for all thirty GMs to be in the same room and sew the seeds for a potential deal.

Mats Sundin still claims that he doesn't want to move, however as the day draws nearer many feel it will be waived if Fletcher can come to him with a tangible deal that will truly help Toronto for the future. 

It is believed that a deal to grab Sundin will have to be a package similar to the one that got Nashville Peter Forsberg (so basically a young roster player/prospect(s), and draft picks.)

Calgary and Vancouver have also shown interest in Sundin, however both were quiet on talks.  Vancouver seems to be a long shot as GM Dave Nonis says he can not afford to overpay for a rental, seeing as the Canucks have little depth to do so.

Other than that, there wasn't as much Maple Leafs talk today as there was yesterday, at least not publicly.

Pre-Game Notes

Quick notes for tonight, Alex Steen missed the morning skate with what coach Paul Maurice is simply labelling an "Infection."  However, Maurice said barring something completely unforeseen Steen will suit up tonight.

10,000 Plus Fans Can't Be Wrong

Okay, that wasn't original but I digress.  I want to thank all my regular readers, and everyone who has ever stumbled upon any of my articles for helping me reach 10,000 page views.  I was climbing steadily toward 10K but the number was heavily inflated last night as over 1200 people viewed my article about the first day of the GM Meetings.
