2012 NFL Draft: 4 Prospects Who Will Be Exposed as Frauds at the Senior Bowl
The Senior Bowl has grown into one of the most exciting events of draft season. While the best talent in the draft will not be there because it is only open to seniors, the guys that are there can really help their draft stock with a good performance.
Of course the flip side of that is true as well. There will be a handful of guys who show themselves to not be as good as some people expected.
Ryan Tannehill, QB, Texas A&M
1 of 4The hype surrounding Ryan Tannehill is getting ridiculous, but that is what happens when there are so many NFL teams desperate for a quarterback. There is no doubt that Tannehill is the third-best quarterback in this draft, but that does not mean that he should be drafted before the third round.
Some of the shine will start to come off the Tannehill star during Senior Bowl practices. He will look like a third round guy when facing the competition at the Senior Bowl, and that is not even against the best players that will be in the draft.
Kellen Moore, QB, Boise State
2 of 4Kellen Moore does not have the hype surrounding him that a guy like Tannehill does, but someone will take him earlier than they should on draft day because he is a "winner." The problem with Moore's wins is that they have come against guys that will only be watching NFL games from their couches.
Moore will not look like the prolific passer he did in his four years at Boise State against the caliber of defensive backs he will see at the Senior Bowl.
Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor
3 of 4Kendall Wright is going to be an interesting guy to watch at the Senior Bowl. His numbers from 2011 are ridiculous. He finished the year with 108 catches for 1,663 yards and 14 touchdowns. That leaves scouts wondering if Wright is a product of the system and Robert Griffin III.
Wright will not be exposed as a total fraud at the Senior Bowl, but his performance there will knock him out of the first round.
Devon Still, DT, Penn State
4 of 4Devon Still is widely regarded as the best defensive tackle in this draft. There is no doubt that he has the upside to become a really good NFL player, but you should always be leery of a guy that is hyped this high without numbers that are impressive in college. Most mock drafts have him going eighth to the Carolina Panthers.
Still will not look as "disruptive" this week when facing the best offensive linemen in the country. While the talent is weak at some spots at the Senior Bowl, the interior offensive linemen that will be there will be really good players.
