January Transfer Window: 5 English Clubs That Could Sign David Beckham

Being without a club and and spotted in the crowd during this weekend's Manchester derby in the FA Cup, has led many to believe that David Beckham could make a sensational return to English football this month.

After a move to Paris Saint-Germain fell through, Premier League managers will be alerted to the midfielder's potential availability. With the January transfer window now in full swing, there could be plenty of interest during the next two weeks. 

Here are five clubs that could make a move for Beckham. 

Spurs

Beckham trained with Spurs last January and almost signed a short-term loan deal on deadline day before time ran out.

Harry Redknapp has been a long admirer of the 36-year-old and no negotiations will be needed with another club this time around.

Combine that with their genuine hopes of winning the league this year and the doubts over Aaron Lennon's fitness; the London club could be tempted to make another move.

Everton

David Moyes told David Beckham, he only needed to pick the phone up if he wanted to join on loan last January.

Beckham opted to train with Spurs but the Scot would almost certainly welcome him again should he decide to make a Premier League return.

Landon Donovan is already back after a hugely successful loan spell, and the midfielder may decide to follow suit in an attempt to make a late bid into the England squad for Euro 2012.

From all the potential suitors, Everton probably represents the best chance of game time rather than likely substitute appearances elsewhere.

QPR

Tony Fernandes is without a doubt one of the most ambitious chairmen in the Premier League.

He already tried to make a move for Beckham at the beginning of the season, and will undoubtedly be back in for him during this transfer window.

With Neil Warnock sacked and Mark Hughes the clear favourite to be installed as the new boss, "Sparky" may well be a crucial influence in a potential transfer.

Verdict: Small Chance 

Manchester United

If Beckham were to return to the Premier League and had the choice of any club, it would almost certainly be United.

He has openly stated his love of the club and has never ruled out a return one day.

Well that day looked to be never with United's recent dominance, the emergence of Nani and Antonio Valencia and the signing of Ashley Young.

But consecutive league defeats and the loss of Young might force Sir Alex Ferguson's hand.

Arsene Wenger has gone back to Thierry Henry with instant rewards, while Paul Scholes made a shocking return in the FA Cup win at Manchester City.

Manchester City

City are perhaps the least likely, and most likely, club Beckham could join during the window.

All signs show that he would never play for United's arch rivals, and that will probably be the case.

However, City have the financial power to make Beckham a huge offer on a short-term contract. They are the richest club in the world and would see signing Beckham as a publicity triumph.

Not only would it infuriate the red side of Manchester, it would give valuable experience to a team who has been faltering in recent weeks.
