Tebow Scores on First Play in OT, Denver Broncos Advance Past Pittsburgh 29-23

Kristian WinfieldMay 31, 2018

Following a three-game skid and a QB controversy, the Denver Broncos, by a hair, made the playoffs as the best team in the AFC West.

Tim Tebow decided to end the arguments.

After surviving a resurgent Pittsburgh Steelers comeback, the Denver Broncos won the coin toss, and in one play, delivered an 80-yard touchdown strike to Demaryius Thomas for the first ever touchdown with the new playoff overtime rules.

Tebow was absolutely fantastic, setting a new record by passing for 316 yards and two touchdowns on the No. 1 Pittsburgh Steelers defense, and leading the Denver Broncos to a 29-23 overtime victory, Sunday night.

Tebow also picked up 50 yards and a touchdown on the ground, and stunned the top seeded Steelers to advance on to New England in the AFC Divisional Round, next week.

Big Ben Roethlisberger, playing injured, picked up 289 yards and a touchdown, but a costly interception to Quinton Carter and several bad decisions cost Pittsburgh the game.

The Denver defense held the Steelers to exactly 400 yards of total offense, but more importantly forced a fumble in the waning moments of the fourth quarter to move Shaun Suisham out of field goal range.

The Broncos, led by the exciting, young, unorthodox Tim Tebow, will move on to face a New England Patriots team that stunned them last month.

If Tebow can play as he did tonight, making plays both in the air and on the ground, there could be a Hollywood finish in store.
