Alabama vs LSU: Tyrann Mathieu and Underclassmen Who'll Headline 2013 NFL Draft
Alabama versus LSU is not just a showcase of the two best teams in the country. It will also be one of the greatest collections of future NFL talent outside of a senior All-Star game.
Much of the talent will be available for the 2012 NFL draft. Alabama RB Trent Richardson is expected to declare after the game, though no announcement has been made. Tide LB Courtney Upshaw is also expected to be on several NFL team's wish lists, as is CB Dre Kirkpatrick and LSU corner Morris Claiborne.
But the future NFL talent goes beyond this June. There are several prospects that will be on display tomorrow who whon't be eligible until 2013.
The most notable is Tyrann Mathieu of LSU.
The Honey Badger has displayed big-play capability on defense and in the kick return game. He is considered undersized at only 5'9" 175 pounds, but many laud his nose for the ball and his elusiveness with the ball.
Here are a few others who figure to be available and high on NFL teams' lists in 2013:
DJ Fluker, OT—Alabama
Fluker is a mountain of a man. His work has helped anchor the Tide's dominant run-blocking, which has ushered Trent Richardson to his outstanding season. Fluker could be a top five pick in 2013.
Sam Montgomery, DE/OLB—LSU
Montgomery has the size and athleticism to play the DE or OLB in a 3-4 scheme. Montgomery has big-time pass-rushing upside.
Barrett Jones, OL—Alabama
Jones could play either the guard or tackle in the NFL. He is probably more dominant at guard. At either position, there are a few NFL teams that can't wait to add Jones to their protection plans.
