WWE News: Major Name Being Inducted into WWE Hall of Fame in 2012?

Drake OzJun 2, 2018

The WWE Hall of Fame isn’t exactly what it should be.

Though it’s still an honor to be inducted into the company’s elite class of legends, there is no legitimate voting process, there are a number of guys in the Hall who don’t belong there and there are many who question why some talents are in the Hall but others aren’t.

That being said, it’s still exciting to see which of our favorite former stars will join the Hall each and every year, and it looks like 2012 will see a major name make his way into the Hall.

As noted before, 2012 WWE Hall of Fame tickets will go on sale to the general public this Saturday, January 14th. They are priced from $41.40 to $93.65.

WWE is using the American Airlines Arena for the ceremony this year, which would indicate they are planning to induct a major name. In the past, WWE has only used larger arenas for the ceremony when big names were being inducted like Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair.

"

While this is pure speculation on the part of both PWInsider and myself, I think it’s definitely something that’s worth looking at. If arenas that can hold 15,000 to 20,000 (or more) fans have only been used for major names in the past, then chances are that will remain true for 2012.

Of course, that leaves us all with one question on our minds: Which huge star will it be?

The three likeliest options—in my opinion, of course—are The Rock, Edge and “Macho Man” Randy Savage.

It’s an absolute shame that Savage isn’t in the Hall of Fame already, but after his surprising death last year, perhaps now is the time that Vince McMahon finally lets bygones be bygones and puts one of the greatest wrestlers ever where he belongs: In the WWE Hall of Fame.

While Savage is the most deserving because of how long he’s waited, The Rock is the one who I think makes the most sense. He’s wrestling his first singles match in nearly eight years—one that will likely be his last match ever—and it’s taking place in his hometown of Miami.

I could definitely see the WWE “pulling a Ric Flair” and have The Rock inducted into the Hall of Fame the night before he wrestles his last match with the company.

The Rock might be the most obvious option, but the one I think is the most likely? The Rated R Superstar, Edge.

While Edge just retired last year and some might think he “should wait longer,” Edge is perhaps more well-known among the younger wrestling fans of today than either The Rock or Savage, and is certainly deserving of a spot in the Hall of Fame.

Plus, with a DVD chronicling Edge’s career and a WWE Studios flick starring Edge due out in April, inducting Edge into the Hall of Fame would be a great way to promote both his DVD and his movie.

So, don’t be surprised if we see the Rated R Superstar enter the WWE Hall of Fame in a couple of months.
