Liverpool Transfers: 8 Signings to Ensure Champions League Football Next Season

Jake RoddJun 7, 2018

The champions league is an extremely realistic aim for Liverpool Football Club, as the reds are merely three points off fourth place. However with rival teams like Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal sure to invest in some fresh talent, Liverpool and Kenny Dalglish must look to do the same.

This article will take you through what signings are achievable, though some are unlikely. Believe you me, if it were up to me to run this club, I would make sure we signed at least three of the following ten players.

1. Gary Cahill

1 of 8

It is almost certain that Gary Cahill will be plying his trade away from Bolton come February, though where is uncertain. Personal terms have been the stumbling block thus far, with Chelsea refusing to comply with 100k a week demands from Cahill.

This may leave Liverpool in a position of interest, and if he were signed, he would provide excellent cover for the injury prone Daniel Agger.

2. Xheridan Shaqiri

2 of 8

While lots of you have heard about Basle midfielder Xheridan Shaqiri, most of you don't realise exactly how much of a prospect he is. He is gifted with extraordinary vision and good pace, and would replace Stewart Downing easily.

Living in Switzerland myself, I can assure you that many swiss people feel that he will be moving on swiftly. Swiss football is frankly appalling. It shouldn't take much to lure him.

I know it doesn't matter, but Shaqiri is my favourite player on this list, and one of the most realistic.

3. Eden Hazard

3 of 8

Yes. He was bound to come up here.

I mean, what more can I say that hasn't been said already. He probably won't come to Anfield. But, if he did...

4. Darren Bent

4 of 8

Okay, to make this crystal clear, I mean signing Bent at a price between ten and fifteen million pounds.

The fact is, he's a poacher. The classic number nine (ignore his shirt in the picture). Liverpool need goals, and it's someone like Bent, or Bent himself, that may well provide them.

Luuk De Jong

5 of 8

It doesn't get much more creative than Dutch playmaker Luuk de Jong. He would cost around twenty million give or take, but he would be one hell of an asset. He would provide flair that Suarez would add on to, and Gerrard would benefit from.

He would play either as a winger or in the whole just behind the striker, allowing Gerrard to drop deep and dominate midfield.

I pray for him to arrive.

Vagner Love

6 of 8

Here's one you may not have heard of just yet, but that's because there haven't been any rumours yet. For those of you that don't know, Vagner Love currently plays for Russian outfit CSKA Moscow, and is 27 years of age. He has represented his country twenty times, scoring in four of those games.

He is powerful, quick and committed, he's like a more powerful version of Andy Carroll. He would cost around fifteen million but he would be worth every penny of it, as he as a proven track record and to be honest I'd say his hair is worth ten million.

Welliton

7 of 8

Another Brazilian plying his trade in Russia, then.

Welliton has scored 57 times in just under 100 appearances for Russian side Spartak Moscow, the small forward is versatile and can be used as a winger, given the fact that he possesses an astounding burst of pace.

He would suit a 4-3-3 formation, playing anywhere in the top line, or anywhere behind the striker in a 4-2-3-1 system.

He too would be a cheap option, but his success would not be guaranteed seeing as Russian Premier is no where near the standard of English football.

Demba Ba

8 of 8

I know most of you have bad memories of a Newcastle striker arriving in January, but this one looks relatively more proven and would cost 1/7th, yes ONE SEVENTH of the price.

Ba is strong, skillful and ultimately a handful for defenders, and a departure seems imminent. Could Liverpool snatch the forward?
