Nick Sirianni Says 'I'm Grateful for the Adversity' After Eagles' Super Bowl Win

Andrew PetersFeb 9, 2025

In his fourth season as a head coach, Nick Sirianni is a Super Bowl champion.

It took losing in the Super Bowl two years ago and facing an early exit in last year's postseason to get there, but the Philadelphia Eagles head coach is "grateful" for everything that led to his team ending the season with a win.

"The daily grind, all the hard work—that's what you remember," Sirianni said. "We'll remember this, but it was the ups and downs, embracing the adversity and getting better from the adversity.

"I think one thing is, when you go through adversity, when you go through criticism, cause you have to hear it sometimes, you have to hear the media, that's something that I can only reach my kids when they through adversity for the rest of their lives. I'm grateful for the adversity, this team's grateful for the adversity."

Sirianni's Eagles were dominant all night on Sunday. They jumped out to a 24-0 lead at halftime and never looked back, trouncing the Chiefs 40-22.

Philadelphia's had its way with Kansas City's offensive line, sacking Patrick Mahomes six times—the most ever for him in a single game. The Eagles also intercepted Mahomes twice—one being a pick-six and the other resulting in a touchdown a few plays later. They forced another turnover in the fourth quarter on a strip sack on Mahomes.

On offense, quarterback Jalen Hurts shook off an early interception to finish with 221 passing yards and a pair of touchdowns through the air on 17-of-22 passing. He added 72 rushing yards and a score on the ground, earning Super Bowl MVP for his effort.

Star receiver DeVonta Smith had four receptions for 69 yards and a touchdown while his co-star A.J. Brown added 43 yards and a touchdown on four receptions.

As Sirrianni said, the Eagles' path to the Super Bowl wasn't perfect. They started the year 2-2 with losses to the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers and appeared on their way to an underwhelming year. Philadelphia proceeded to win 10 straight and finished the year winning 12 of its last 13 games.

In the postseason, the Eagles took down the Green Bay Packers in the wild-card round before grinding out a tight win over the Los Angeles Rams. A dominant 55-22 win over the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship set up another convincing win over Kansas City on Sunday.

Now Sirianni, who has faced plenty of criticism during his tenure in Philadelphia, is a champion and will head into the offseason to begin scheming how the Eagles can defend their Super Bowl victory.
