Julia StumbaughJan 26, 2025

Things are starting to come together for the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers followed up Thursday's blowout victory over the Boston Celtics by shutting down Stephen Curry in a Saturday night road win over the Golden State Warriors.

Anthony Davis led the team with 36 points and 13 rebounds, while LeBron James added 25 points and 12 assists, in the Lakers' 118-108 win.

Curry was held to 13 points and did not score a single basket in the second half. He went 0-for-8 from the field and 0-for-4 from deep through the final two quarters in the Warriors' loss.

The Lakers improve to 25-18, while upping their road record to 9-12 and marking their third straight victory in a row.

Consecutive wins over the Washington Wizards, the defending NBA champions and the Warriors have some fans believing the Lakers are on track for a strong second half after an up-and-down start to the season.

Saturday night's win was highlighted by Jarred Vanderbilt's first appearance for the Lakers in almost a year.

Vanderbilt last played for the Lakers on Feb. 1, 2024 and has since undergone offseason procedures on both feet.

In his return from an extensive rehab process, Vanderbilt provided a spark for the Lakers' defense as the unit shut down Curry and the Warriors in the fourth quarter.

Los Angeles is starting out a six-game road trip that will next take the team to face the Charlotte Hornets on Monday. A winning record over this stretch could help James, Davis and the Lakers cement themselves as a top-five team in the West.

The Warriors have meanwhile lost three of their last four games and would be out of the playoffs if the season were to end today. Curry and his team will look to get back on track toward a postseason berth Tuesday at home against the Utah Jazz.
