NFL News: Cowboys' Trevon Diggs Reportedly Undergoes Surgery on Knee Injury

Andrew PetersJan 23, 2025

After a tough season, the Dallas Cowboys got more bad news this offseason.

Per ESPN's Todd Archer, star cornerback Trevon Diggs underwent tissue graft surgery on his left knee on Thursday. According to Archer, the recovery time could keep him sidelined into training camp "if not longer."

Diggs has dealt with a handful of injuries over the past few seasons after a mostly healthy start to his career. In 2023, he suffered a torn ACL in practice and missed all but two games. He managed to return to the field to start the 2024 season but the Cowboys announced in December that he would miss the rest of the year to have surgery on his knee. He had been dealing with the knee injury for most of the year.

Diggs, a two-time Pro Bowler, finished the season with 42 tackles, two interceptions and 11 passes defended. While Diggs is a few years removed from his outstanding 2021 season that saw him record 11 interceptions, he'll look to come back strong from surgery and help the Cowboys get back on track after a rough year.

Injuries depleted the Cowboys' defense all season. Along with Diggs, cornerback DaRon Bland, linebacker Eric Kendricks and pass-rushers Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence missed time.

On the offensive side, quarterback Dak Prescott played just eight games due to a hamstring injury.

All of the injuries led to a 7-10 season for the Cowboys, ending their run of three consecutive postseason appearances. Now Dallas is searching for its next head coach and trying to get its players rehabilitated this offseason.
