Kevin Durant, Booker Applauded by NBA Fans as Suns Beat Wizards Despite Beal Injury
The Phoenix Suns avoided an upset to one of the worst teams in the league on Thursday, beating the Washington Wizards 130-123.
The Suns led by as many as 15 in the final five minutes, but the Wizards went on a 19-5 run to make things interesting in the clutch. Ultimately, a Devin Booker three-pointer gave Phoenix a six-point lead with 45 seconds to go and the Suns proceeded to ice the game at the free throw line.
With Bradley Beal out with an injury, Booker stepped up for a big night, posting 37 points, five assists and a pair of steals. Kevin Durant added 23 points and six boards while Grayson Allen contributed 21 points and five rebounds off the bench.
After the win, fans praised Booker and company for avoiding the upset.
The performance from Booker marks four consecutive 30-point games and the Suns have gone 3-1 during that stretch.
With the win, Phoenix finally got to the .500 mark at 20-20. The Suns still have plenty of work to do to get into the playoff race, however, as they're still sitting in 11th place in the Western Conference.
