Warriors' Steve Kerr on Trade Rumors: Sometimes the Right Thing Is to Not Do Anything

Andrew PetersJan 14, 2025

The Golden State Warriors have struggled in recent weeks, leading some to believe they'll be active ahead of the trade deadline.

But head coach Steve Kerr indicated that might not be the case, saying that he trusts the front office to do what they think is necessary but adding that doing nothing at all might be the right move.

"I have 100 percent faith in our organization to do whatever the right thing is and sometimes the right thing is to not do anything," Kerr said, via 95.7 The Game. "It depends on what you're going to do, what that means. And Mike is so good at his job. I feel in great hands with him and the whole organization. And they're looking at everything."

The Warriors already made one big move this season, trading De'Anthony Melton to the Brooklyn Nets in return for Dennis Schröder. In 14 games, Schröder has put up 10.1 points and 4.6 assists, and his play hasn't exactly resulted in wins.

Golden State had a hot 12-3 start to the season but has since dropped to 19-20. The Warriors are sitting in 12th place in the West and have a tough stretch ahead that features matchups with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers.

While Kerr indicated that the Warriors might not be making any moves at the deadline, they'll need to do something to get back on track.
