Texans' Joe Mixon Calls Out Rex Ryan in Viral Video After Wild Card Win vs. Chargers

Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon fired back at disparaging comments made by former NFL head coach Rex Ryan following a 32-12 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.

"We're smoking on that Rex Ryan bye week pack," Mixon said while smoking a cigar in an Instagram live video following the victory on Saturday.

Ryan, who's currently an NFL analyst with ESPN, said that a first-round postseason clash between Los Angeles and Houston was essentially a bye week for the Chargers during an appearance on Get Up (h/t Mike Gianakos of Clutch Points).

Mixon said that he would let his "helmet and shoulder pads do the talking" as a response to Ryan at the time, via Gianakos.

The 28-year-old did exactly that, rushing for 106 yards on 25 carries and catching one pass for 13 yards. Mixon also helped cement the victory for Houston with a 17-yard rushing touchdown that gave his team a 20-point lead with just under four minutes left in regulation.

The Chargers were the top Wild Card team in the AFC after ending the regular season with a record of 11-6, while the Texans were the lowest-seeded division champion in the conference at 10-7.

Houston faced an early 6-0 deficit through one quarter, but responded by scoring 23 straight points before Los Angeles got on the board again. Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert completed just 43.8 percent of his throws, getting picked off four times.

Ryan may have believed that Los Angeles was going to cruise to an easy win, but Mixon and the Texans ended up getting the last laugh.
