Steph Curry: 'The Clock's Ticking' on NBA Career, Want to Play 'as Long as I Can'

Doric SamJan 7, 2025

Golden State Warriors star point guard Stephen Curry candidly spoke about his legendary NBA career and admitted that it's close to reaching its end.

"I want to do this for as long as I can," Curry told Tim Keown of ESPN. "But the clock's ticking. We all know that."

Curry's comments echo his earlier sentiments when he told ESPN's Malika Andrews last month that "it's okay to accept and acknowledge that the end is near, whatever point."

Curry has spent his entire 16-year career with the Warriors and is one of the greatest point guards of all time with four NBA championships and two NBA MVP awards.

The 36-year-old has shown few signs of slowing down. While his average of 22.5 points is his lowest since he was limited to just five games in the 2019-20 season, he's still shooting 42.0 percent from beyond the arc as he continues to extend his all-time NBA record for career three-pointers.

However, the Warriors rank third in the Pacific Division with an 18-17 record and have had trouble finding consistency and chemistry with a slew of new faces around Curry and his longtime running mate Draymond Green.

Fans will certainly be sure to enjoy Curry for as long as they can. Golden State will be back in action on Tuesday night against the Miami Heat (17-17).
