Report: Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa Expected to Be Ready for 2025 Season Amid Hip Injury

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa's hip injury is not expected to be a long-term issue.

Appearing on Monday's episode of The Pat McAfee Show, ESPN's Adam Schefter said the understanding is Tagovailoa will "be ready to go" for the 2025 season.

Tagovailoa's health was a major storyline for the Dolphins at the end of the regular season, as he missed the Week 17 game against the Cleveland Browns and Week 18 game against the New York Jets with a hip injury.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported ahead of the game against the Jets that the hip injury was "affecting the surrounding muscles and therefore his strength and mobility, along with leaving him vulnerable to further injury."

Rapoport also reported it was "not a given" the quarterback would be available in the Wild Card Round if Miami advanced to the playoffs.

Any issues with Tagovailoa's right hip will be a cause for concern because he had surgery after dislocating it in November 2019 during his junior year at Alabama.

Tagovailoa was also sidelined earlier this season because of a concussion, which was all the more notable since he suffered two diagnosed concussions during the 2022 campaign. He was hospitalized after suffering one of the 2022 concussions.

Miami turned to Tyler Huntley this season when Tagovailoa was out, including for the final two games of the regular season. The Dolphins missed the playoffs after a 32-20 loss to the New York Jets in Week 18.

Tagovailoa and Skylar Thompson are the only quarterbacks the Dolphins have under contract in 2025. Huntley will become an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
