Cooper Flagg Scores 24, Hyped by CBB Fans for 'Masterclass' as No. 4 Duke Beats SMU
Cooper Flagg added to his 2025 NBA Draft hype during No. 4 Duke's Saturday afternoon blowout of SMU.
Flagg led the Blue Devils with 24 points and 10 rebounds to mark his fifth college double-double in the 89-62 victory.
Flagg dominated on both sides of the court, pulling down seven defensive rebounds and adding two blocks and a steal to the seventh 20-point outing of his college career.
To college basketball fans, Flagg is already living up to the hype he garnered by beginning his Duke career as the projected No. 1 pick of the upcoming NBA draft.
Flagg had been held below 15 points in two of four games heading into Saturday's matchup, including a Duke career-low six points in a Dec. 10 win over Incarnate Word.
Like during their blowout of Incarnate Word, Duke turned to their bench in the late stages of Saturday's win over SMU.
This time, however, Flagg racked up points early. He scored 13 points in the first 11 minutes of the game to set the tone for the Blue Devils with head coach Jon Scheyer out due to an illness.
Duke improves to 11-2 overall and 3-0 in ACC play with the win. Flagg and the Blue Devils can continue building on their case to enter this spring's NCAA Tournament as a No. 1 seed with a win over Pitt (11-2, 2-0 ACC) on Tuesday.
